GUIDE OF CONDUCT

The guide of conduct contains important regulations pertaining to the academic, spiritual and social life at Trinity Theological College. These guidelines are an aid to help students mature and be responsible as they prepare for the Lord’s Ministry. It is thus, expected of every student to honor, respect and abide by the guide of conduct contained here with utmost sincerity during his/her study in preparation for ministry.

Rules and Regulations

a.

No tribe wise, village wise or state wise meeting is allowed in the college without the prior permission of the authority.

b.

Timings of every activity should be strictly followed.

c.

Interference in college administration, disrespect to any faculty or staff by students shall not be tolerated and may lead to strict disciplinary action by the College authority.

d.

Shooting of Birds and animals are not allowed in the college campus.

e.

Cutting of trees and jungles is to be avoided unless the concerned authority permits or details for developmental purpose.

f.

Festivals and celebrations like Christmas and Easter are community events, as such selected/ individual group celebrations are discouraged.

g.

Emotional relation between opposite gender will not be tolerated and may lead to strict disciplinary action by the College authority.

h.

Any student found using tobacco of any kind, alcoholic drinks, misusing of drugs, or stealing in the hostel shall be penalized as deemed appropriate by the faculty council.

i.

Students are expected to wear decent dress during the class hours, worship services, library, dining hall or any community gatherings.

j.

Any damage to the college property shall be replaced by the concerned person.

k.

Students are to maintain basic etiquette in all aspects of campus life, viz., mess, community gatherings, etc.

l.

Use of mobile phone is not encouraged. Students should not be seen using them in public places. If any student is seen using in the Class rooms, Library, Worship, Public gatherings and any Public places inside the campus, strict disciplinary action will be taken by the College authority.

m.

Mid-study marriages are not encouraged. However, if a student so desires to marry in the midst of study he/she will be given a one-year compulsory leave.

Hostel Guidelines

a.

Guests are not allowed inside the hostels without prior permission.

Visitor’s time should be followed strictly.
Winter : 2:00 to 4:00 PM
Summer : 3:00 to 5:00 PM

b.

Exempting the hostel day, students and guest are not allowed to enter the hostels of the opposite gender.

c.

Students are expected to keep their hostels neat and clean.

d.

Lights, fans and water supply should be put off when not in use. No electrical extension is allowed. If found shall be fined up to Rs. 500 and the cost of repairing be borne by the concerned person.

e.

Any defect or complain should be reported to the authority through the concerned Hostel warden only.

f.

Students must not be seen outside the hostel after 9:00 PM.

g.

Any sickness must be reported to the wardens immediately. Any medical assistance need out of the campus must be done with the prior permission of the authority concerned.

h.

No private cooking in the hostel is allowed. Students are expected to come to the dining hall for food.

i.

Warden, or any assigned staff by the principal may occasionally conduct surprise visits in the hostels or any appropriate place/s.

j.

Bed, table and chair if provided will be checked before the student leave for holidays. The concerned student will replace any defect or tempered furniture after inspection.

k.

Any student using laptop, musical instruments will have to subscribe to a prescribed amount fixed by the college.

l.

Students are not allowed to leave the college campus on non-outing days without prior permission from the concerned authority. For outing the concerned student must take the permission of the warden or in-charge and for overnight or more the student will take permission from the Principal subject to forwarding recommendation of the concerned warden.

Mess Guidelines

  1. Hostel Mess Management is governed by the college authority.
  2. Students will not be allowed to sit for exams without clearing the mess fees.
  3. Students must pay their mess fees on two installments for the whole year and must retain the cash receipt from the College Accountant.
  4. Students misbehaving inside the dining hall or ill-treating the mess workers will be strictly dealt with.
  5. Students having dietary problems should report to the authority immediately because no separate cooking is allowed.
  6. The mess committee members (students) with the staff advisor shall look into the mess affairs and report any problems that may arise to the authority.
  7. Table manners and timings are to be maintained strictly.
  8. Students can use aqua guard (water filter) only for drinking purposes.
  9. Solar water heating system facilities are provided in the mess for students who are unwell and for those needing warm water.
  10. Taking away mess properties to the hostels without prior permission from the management is strictly prohibited.

Worship Guidelines

Worship matters are taken care by the Chaplain and the Worship Committee. Participation in community worship is an essential aspect of the college life both for students and college faculty and staff. The following are the basic guide to community worship and spiritual life:

  1. Attendance to worship is an essential requirement for the students and will determine the outcome in awarding the college diploma.
  2. Everyone is encouraged to maintain private devotional life.
  3. During community worship any kind/form of discrimination on the basis of gender, ethnicity, denomination, etc. will not be tolerated.
  4. Chapel hall is exclusively meant for worship purposes. Any social gatherings and activities that do not reflect the sanctity of the church shall not be entertained.
  5. Students are expected to come to chapel with Bible as prescribed by the college.
  6. Everyone must subscribe to the college statement of faith as enshrined in the prospectus.
  7. Students are expected to attend the fasting programme conducted once every month.

Disciplinary Actions

Disciplinary actions are primarily meant to discipline and enable one to mature in faith be it as a student of the college or otherwise. As such, following disciplinary actions may be imposed on those failing to live by the expected life and moral standard:

a.

Personal counseling followed by warnings to student and a letter to student’s parent/ sponsoring body/ church.

b.

Suspension from college for any number of days/semester/year as per the decision of the college faculty council or deprivation of the College Diploma.

c.

Expulsion from the college.

d.

In case a student is expelled from the college he/she should not claim scholarship or fees paid to the college.

e.

Disciplinary action is taken according to the severity of the offence and not necessarily in order of the serial or sequences as mentioned. The decision of the College faculty council is final and binding.

Class Attendance

Full class attendance is expected of all the students and attendance records are maintained for each subject separately. The student must have a total of 90% attendance, and in exceptional medical case 75% may be considered with prior permission from the concerned office. If any student fails to maintain the minimum attendance, he or she will not be allowed to write exams.

Unfair Means

The consequence for unfair means (cheating, copying, exchanging of question papers or answers, etc) during the examination will lead to immediate suspension from the college for one academic year. He/she will forfeit his/her exams and will only be able to appear the same examination in the following year.

Leave

Students should not leave the campus during the academic sessions. In cases of emergency, over-night or more leave may be availed by the students. In cases of prolonged hospitalization, or urgent and emergency matters pertaining to family members a student may apply for leave along with necessary documents through the wardens. This should not exceed 15 days consecutively and only on exceptional circumstances will such cases be considered. Stringent action will be taken against those who produce false leave application.

NOTE: In spite of leave granted to any students if his/her absence exceeds 10% of total class working hours, a student will not be allowed to sit for his/her exam on the concerned subject/s.

Repeat Papers

A student should repeat a particular course for any of the following reasons:
• Incomplete papers: Incomplete papers include not completing the requirement of a particular course such as assignments or class tests.
• Failing in retake exams.

Absence from Examination

Absence from examination without any genuine reason and permission of the concerned authority is strictly prohibited. Such cases will lead to stringent disciplinary action.

College Uniform

The college maintains compulsory uniform to be used on Tuesdays and Thursdays and the official college programmes.
